Our Bali thatching has been featured on Better Homes and Gardens 3 times!
We are so confident in the quality of our products that we proudly offer a 100% Money Back Guarantee!
Our Bali-style Thatch is imported directly from Bali, and is made from natural Alang Alang grass, using the white string stitch method which makes the thatch more durable. As with all of our products, only premium materials are used to assemble this thatch, which are carefully selected to ensure quality and longevity of the product. This thatch has also been designed to be waterproof so that your gazebo can withstand harsher weather conditions and can still be a nice “retreat” even when it’s drizzling outside.
The Balinese thatch strips can be purchased separately for your DIY thatch projects. They are very quick and easy to install, without the need for any special tools or skills needed. The strips are also pre-fabricated and created specifically with “do-it-yourselfers” in mind, which makes construction a much simpler process. And of course, our staff are always ready to help guide you with proper attachment and assembly procedures.
DIY Balinese Thatch: We will include an instruction manual(12 pages) and a 1300 phone support line to answer all your questions.
Remember, DIY projects should be fulfilling and rewarding, not frustrating and annoying. And just because it’s a DIY project, doesn’t mean you have to figure everything out all by yourself. If you ever have any questions, or just want a bit of advice from a team that’s set up these roofs many times before, just give us a call; we’re always happy to help (1300 855 440).
Not All Balinese Thatching Strips are Created Equal:
Through many years of experience, we have identified various stitching methods and have studied how these affect the longevity and sturdiness of the roof itself. The two main kinds of stitching methods are Black String and White String. The Black String method is inferior because it does not create a tight enough hold within the thatch strip and causes it to deteriorate rapidly. In some cases the roofs that were assembled with Black String thatch strips begin to show serious damage after just 3 years! This is very important to keep in mind because you don’t want to incur the expense and the stress of having to re-thatch the roof every couple of years.
On the other hand, all of our thatch strips only use the White String method, which helps create a product that is bound tighter and can therefore withstand harsher weather conditions with significantly less damage.

Just wanted to provide a few photos and some comments on our experience with your company. We purchased a 4 meter x 3 meter Bali Hut.
From the outset the staff at Exotic Thatch at Long Jetty were professional and very helpful. The workmanship of the Hut is excellent . I have had many friends and relatives comment on how meticulous the workmanship is. I would have no problem in recommending Exotic Thatch to anybody interested in purchasing a Bali Hut. I have attached some images for your records.
